The Northern Film School is a full member of both CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision) and NAHEMI (The National Association for Higher Education in the Moving Image), and has established contacts with filmmakers and film schools across the globe.
Our MA Screenwriting is one of only 8 Skillset accredited courses in the UK and supports our students with bursaries and industry events and contacts.
Screen Yorkshire is the regional screen agency for Yorkshire and Humber. They promote and support the development of a successful film and TV media sector in the region, run the Digital Shorts programme - and they are based only ten minutes away from the Northern Film School! Their officers take part in pitching panels, critique scripts and sit on assessment events for our courses. Their Emerging Talent officer is closely involved in all our graduate events.
Propellor TV have established a high-profile presence in Yorkshire, fostering new film and TV talent. The Northern Film School sponsored their Short Film Festival which was held in the Electric Press.
We are active participants in the Erasmus scheme which offers funding to students and staff at European higher education institutions for exchanges to other EU countries.
The Northern Film School and Leeds Metropolitan University are partners with Leeds International Film Festival and the Leeds Children and Young People's Film Festival which provides opportunities for our students to gain hands on experience in film festival organisation and selection as well as offering a chance to mentor and teach.
